Courage

Tools are bountiful, courage is rare. Often times, people believe that the limitation is in the resources they have access to. Either they don’t have enough time, money, tools…but this isn’t always the case. I’ve found that it is just as likely for someone to have everything they need except the courage to actually try something and fail.

There’s a strong tendency to gather, to acquire skills and knowledgeโ€“but action begets results and results are not universally positive. Taking action means squaring off against the unknown, and facing rejection with dignity.

Courage is what moves the needle forward. It’s what lifts the artist’s arm to paint a masterful stroke. It gives body to a singing voice, and steadiness to a surgeon’s scalpel. Without it, even the best made tools lay idle. With it, even the simplest ones can change everything.
